GORM Awarded Screen Ireland Stakeholder Funding

GORM is thrilled to announce its selection as one of the 21 recipient organisations awarded funding from the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme, by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland. The scheme aims to foster skills development initiatives and activities within the Irish screen sector.

The 2023 round of Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme emphasised eight priority areas, including equality, diversity, and inclusion; sustainability and green production; future technology and virtual production; improving workplace culture and well-being; regional development; careers in the screen industry for young people; the development of a competency framework for sectoral roles; and company/business development.

This award will co-fund "The Wideshot Programme" in 2024, which will allow us to deliver workshops, education, training, and events focused on digital storytelling, creative-media, and documentary skills. The initiative aims to empower young adults aged 18-30, particularly those from ethnically diverse communities in the screen industry, residing in Ireland.

Speaking about the funding awards, Désirée Finnegan, Chief Executive of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, said,

"Screen Ireland is delighted to congratulate the organisations that have been awarded through this year’s Screen Stakeholders funding scheme. Each initiative reflects an industry priority, challenge or opportunity to address for the development of our sector into the future, and we are committed to working with organisations across the country to achieve that. We’re looking forward to all of the activities, programmes, schemes and events that will be rolled out over the next year for the Irish screen industry."

Expressing her delight, Mamobo Ogoro, Chief Executive of GORM said,

“We at GORM are absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been selected as one of the recipients of the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme by Screen Ireland. The continuation of our 'Wideshot Programme' is a significant milestone for us. It underscores our commitment to empowering young adults aged 18-30, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds in the screen industry, with the essential skills and opportunities to shine in the media landscape.”

Over €625,000 worth of funding has been distributed among the 21 recipient organizations, highlighting the commitment of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland to the continuous growth and enhancement of the Irish screen sector.
