CASE STUDY: Designing a Global EDI Training Programme for Trócaire

Trócaire is an international non-governmental organisation (INGO) operating in diverse global contexts, working in partnership with communities worldwide.
As part of Trócaire’s internal Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, a key focus has been on providing structured learning approaches to support employees in over 14 global offices.
Opportunity:
Trócaire required a cohesive and scalable training programme that could support EDI learning across its global workforce.
The opportunity was to design a programme that could:
- Align with organisational values and existing frameworks
- Be delivered consistently across different regions and teams
- Support both foundational understanding and applied learning
- Provide a basis for future rollout and adaptation
This created a need for a structured programme that could be both globally consistent and locally relevant.
The Programme:
GORM designed and delivered a multi-module EDI training programme, structured around three core areas:
- Cultural Competency
- Unconscious Bias
- Gender Transformation
The programme was developed using evidence-informed approach aligned with organisational frameworks, ensuring alignment with the EDI strategy, employee feedback, and global context.
Key components included:
- Development of three structured training modules
- Interactive, in-person pilot delivery with a cross-functional cohort
- Participant workbooks (translated to Spanish and French) and supporting materials
- Facilitation by subject-matter experts
- A structured evaluation and reporting process
The training was designed to be adaptable for global rollout, with materials developed for accessibility and multilingual use.
Impact Across the Organisation:
Trócaire received a structured EDI training programme that:
- Provides a consistent foundation for EDI learning across the organisation
- Supports future global rollout through scalable design
- Integrates interactive learning with structured content
- Establishes a framework for ongoing development and engagement
The pilot delivery supported programme development for wider rollout.
This project demonstrates how global organisations can implement structured EDI learning through a combination of research-informed design and practical delivery.
By developing a programme that supports consistent delivery while allowing for contextual application, the approach supports long-term integration across diverse organisational contexts.
